The contractor is also working to complete final curb and driveway repairs prior to Friday's paving operation.  It is the contractor's intention to pave the majority of Central Avenue prior to this weekend. The contractor will return to pave any remaining sections next week when temperatures are more suitable for paving.

Parkway restoration is planned to take place the week of November 23, 2015.

Pavement removal operations include heavy truck traffic and may present minor delays. The majority of the road will remain open to through traffic during pavement removal operations. Central Avenue connects to various other local roads, please avoid construction operations when possible.

The Central Avenue Street Rehabilitation Project is nearing completion. 90% of driveway residential driveway approach replacements have been completed. Paving of asphalt base course has also been completed. Punch list concrete items will be addressed this week. While adjustment of structures in the roadway is currently underway in preparation of surface paving planned for November 19 through November 20.  Parkway restoration is planned to take place the week of November 23, 2015.

The North Trail Subdivision Roadway and Drainage Improvement Project began in June and finished in late October. The Village and its contractor, Berger Excavators, have installed a new, high capacity storm system to help reduce the flooding conditions that have affected this area of Deerfield in the past.

In addition to providing an improvement to the drainage system, the Village has also rehabilitated the existing roadway and sidewalk to provide improved conditions for the local residents.

The contractor will begin paving Central Ave starting at Mallard Lane to Wilmot Road on Thursday, November 5, 2015 (weather permitting).

Be advised that all remaining driveway ramps will be removed at 7 a.m. on Thursday November 5th, as paving operations require driveway ramps to be removed. Therefore, residents receiving this notice will be unable to access their driveways until paving operations are completed on Thursday.

Please be aware that you may park your vehicles directly in front of your home overnight as long as the vehicle is relocated by Tuesday morning by 6 a.m. so that paving operations may continue.

During paving operations: Please note that homeowners will have access to their property at most times. However, due to limited space during daytime operations, access to driveways may be delayed or denied at times. Please allow ample time for relocation of vehicles and temporary delays that may occur. Though driveway access may be denied during paving operations; driveway access will be re-established at the end of daytime operations.

Overnight parking: Is permitted on village streets during this phase of construction. The Village of Deerfield Police Department has been notified that residents within this area will be parking overnight on Village streets. During the day, between 6 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., please park your vehicles away from the construction area to allow the contractor complete access to the job site. The contractor will return to place the final 1.75” of Asphalt once the western portion of Central Ave  is paved.

The Village appreciates your effort in helping to complete this improvement. If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact the Engineering Department at (847)317-2490.

Full depth pavement removal begins on Tuesday, November 3 on Central Avenue from Wilmot Road to Mallard Lane. Please note that the Village Manager has approved the contractor's request to begin work daily at 7 AM during this operation.

During this operation the contractor will remove the remaining pavement areas in order to begin preparation of the aggregate (stone) sub-base. Once the sub-base has been prepared, asphalt pavement installation will begin within the next 3-5 days.

Pavement removal operations include heavy truck traffic and may present minor access delays to residential driveways. Once the roadway is removed, the contractor will install a stone access ramp which will allow access to driveways and adjacent roadways.

The majority of the road will remain open to through traffic during pavement removal operations. Central Avenue connects to various other local roads, please avoid construction operations when possible.

Notes regarding waste collection: Moving forward, Waste Management will be performing all future waste collections on between the hours of 6 AM and 7 AM.  This will require residents to have their waste ready for pick up the previous night or by 6 AM on collection mornings. This revised collection time is in efforts to avoid access difficulties during active construction hours.

Please be advised that the information communicated in these updates is a forecast of proposed operations that may change due to contractor availability and/or weather conditions.

Leaf Collection in Briarwood Vista

Dear Resident:

We are pleased to inform you that the Briarwood Vista Infrastructure Rehabilitation Project is nearing completion.

You may be aware that the Village annual leaf collection program will begin the week of October 26th and will continue through November 18. The project’s paving contractor also plans to pave beginning the week of October 26th. Therefore, these overlapping operations require coordination with all parties, including homeowners.

In regard to leaf collection, vacuum hose machines are used to pick up leaves. To prevent damage to the newly restored parkways, we ask that residents place leaves (or direct your landscapers to place leaves) in the roadway (one foot in front of the curb) rather than within the parkway.

In order to ensure that leaves are removed prior to prime coat application and paving operations, the Village has coordinated to have an early morning leaf collection crew which will pass by your property each morning before paving between 6:00 AM and 7:00 AM. When possible, we respectfully request that leaves be placed in the street after 5PM before your scheduled pickup date. This helps prevent leaves from clogging drains in the event of rain and improves roadway safety.

Once paving operations have been completed, leaf collection will return to the normal schedule, taking place only once per week on Mondays after 7:30 AM.

The Village appreciates your effort in helping to complete this improvement. If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact the Village of Deerfield Engineering Department, at 847-317-2490, and request to speak with someone regarding the Briarwood Vista Infrastructure Rehabilitation Project.

Sod placement will start in one to two weeks following sanitary sewer repairs in the parkway. Sanitary sewer frame and lid adjustments will take place next week on sanitary sewer manholes in the parkway and on some sidewalks. This entails removing the old leaking frames with new frames and sealing lids to reduce storm water infiltration into the sanitary sewer system. The final round of concrete repairs will take place late next week to address sidewalks impacted by the sanitary sewer work. Roadway surface course paving is planned for mid to late October.

Central Avenue Driveway Access

Written by

Please be advised that all residential driveways on Central Avenue are now open and accessible.

In order to ensure access to driveways for Yom Kippur, the contractor was directed to revise their approach by avoiding placement of concrete sidewalks across driveways. Residents may now consider all driveways open and usable until Thursday, September 23, at 7 a.m., when the contractor will return to remove temporary driveway ramps and to place sidewalk across driveway approaches. The contractor will use fast curing concrete to restore driveway access by late on Friday, September 25.

Overnight parking on the street will be permitted during this phase of construction. The Village of Deerfield Police Department has been notified that residents within this area will be parking overnight on Village streets. During the day, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., please park vehicles away from the construction area to allow the contractor complete access. The contractor will return and remove any necessary formwork and barricades, and restore accessibility after the required concrete cure time is achieved. Please do not park on the north side of Central Ave during this phase of construction. When parking on village streets, please park away from intersections and in a safe manner.

If you are concerned with parking on the street overnight, the Village recommends taking a neighborly approach to this inconvenience. If possible, please coordinate with your neighbors to allow for overnight parking on their driveway while access to your driveway is impacted.

The Village appreciates your effort in helping to complete this much needed improvement. If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact the Village of Deerfield Engineering Department at 847-317-2490 and request to speak with someone regarding the project, or reach John Guccione at 847-561-1851.
